You should be able to replace just the fan. The instructions were perfect! I cannot see anything holding it but something around the trackpad area appears to be the culprit. Does the keyboard connector look damaged?

Do you have an idea? In step 10 you say to turn the cover upside down and disconnect one cable from the power button board. Not sure about regular retail models. There is a power button board attached to the cover. I have found a trick to getting it start by wrapping it in a heavy towel or blanket and just letting it run. I would suggest using original factory replacement fan which is designed for your laptop.

I disassembled the laptop and removed the motherboard. I assume I have to follow steps My DV just died one day, I was left with a notebook that would flash lights for one second and then power off. Also, the hard drive, seen being dv66500 in step 2, I cut the black piece of plastic off of it level to the area where it covers the pins, When I took apart my laptop i realized that plastic was covering the vent for the hard drive entirely not allowing any air flow at all.

I dv65500 up the panel to replace the battery but instead of a silver button battery it had a black connecter attached to it with red and black leads coming out of it. Well, everything starts fine, but I also get the Error. I wanted to say thanks so much!
